Exploring Boston

After all the chaos of moving in, Orientation Week began it was QUITE the adventure. I was able to see and a lot of the city and it did not take long for me to fall in love with it. The Saturday after Orientation Week was also spent exploring and was definitely one of the most fun-filled days I have had in awhile. After meeting up with some friends, we ventured off the Georgetown Cupcakes on Newbury Street to start the day off with their cupcake of the day “Chocolate Sundae”. This was my first time having a GT Cupcake and it did not disappoint, it was actually the best cupcake I have ever had in my eighteen years.

Afterwards, we stopped by Bodega, a bodega that has a Snapple machine that opens to a clothing store. As exciting as it sounds, it was not the secret spot we all thought it to be, and everything was much too expensive for us poor college students, although it was a fun journey there.

Next we walked to the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) which was absolutely gorgeous! I am not sure what the museum’s policy is on showing their paintings and exhibits on the internet, so I will just say that if you are ever in Boston you should defitely check it out! My favorite exhibit was Shinique Smith’s Bright Matter which had pieces made out recycled materials and fabrics. One installation even consisted of spray painted mirrors and an audio track of her breathing (I promise it is more intriguing than it sounds) which was used to show how society views each other.

After coming back to the dorms and relaxing we went back out to watch fireworks on the Boston Harbor. We never actually made it to the Harbor but settled for a nice patch of grass next to the highway where we had a perfect spot of watching the fireworks. Unfortunately, we took a shortcut through the St. Augustine Fair that delayed us fifteen minutes (1,000+ Italians crowded together on a tiny street) and caused us to lose half of our group. In the end, the fireworks were completely worth it and gave us a fun story to tell. The night ended with a trip to the New England Aquarium to see the sea lions. It was an unforgettable night with new friends and a great way to start off the year!

Destin

So finally here is the promised Destin post! I would like to warn all of you readers that this post is a bit picture heavy, but I think they are quite pretty to look at(if I do say so myself)! We were fortunate enough to stay at the Emerald Grande at HarborWalk Village where we were close enough to all of Destin’s greatest attractions and fun activities. It was great way to end the summer and say goodbye to close friends. Because the items were summer most were sold out, so I will not be linking them, but otherwise please enjoy!

July/August Haul

I will be doing an overall back-to-school haul, but for now I will be showing what I got during July and August (mostly tax-free weekend). This haul is quite small and a mix of things, but I am very excited to show you some of the items!

First up is the Benefit POREfessional Primer. I did not go into Sephora with the intentions of buying this or anything other than a palette, but like many shoppers before me I was tricked into buying more because of the cheap, mini products Sephora puts in line. To be quite honest I have wanted a primer and a Benefit product for awhile and since I have heard nothing but great things about this product I decided to give it a try.

 Can I just say that I do not care how late I may be with buying this Urban Decay Naked3 palette because it is absolutely divine. I have lusted after this since it first came out and I saw it blowing up my Tumblr dashboard and after months I finally bought it. I am not exactly the most adventurous person when it comes to makeup so the dressed up neutrals of this palette are perfect for me. It has everything I could want and need and will work perfectly if I want a subtle day look or a seriously smokey eye. I intend on doing a post and review on the palette itself, so stay tuned if you are on the fence about buying this gorgeous little gem.

I must admit that I have a slight obsession with the way the English dress. I love how everything they put on looks like the ideal mix of rocker, posh, and classic style. One item that I have noticed that is a staple in my favorite English idols' closets is a pair of Chelsea boots. Ideally I wanted a gray suede pair, but after seeing these in H&M on sale I couldn't deny myself from buying these babes. The heel is leather and the base of the boot is suede which makes the boots look a bit more expensive then your typical run of mill H&M shoes.

I firmly believe that you can never own too many scarves. Considering that I will be spending winter in the north I think it would be wise for me to stock up on as many scarves as possible. I did not have a lavender one such as this, and with it only being $4 why wouldn't I buy it?

To get ready for Destin I bought this cute H&M bikini top in my favorite shade of burgundy. I loved how the color looked against my skin and I also loved the embellishments on the ties. The H&M site is currently down for maintenance so I will try to link my swimwear later.

The second I saw this H&M bikini bottom I knew I had to have it. Not only does it match my scarf but it also look great with by bikini top. It was definitely a lot skimpier than I would normally wear, but I decided to take a risk and I was pleasantly surprised with the end results.

You may be sick of hearing this, but I'm moving to the north where the winters are brutal, so fleece lined tights are kind of a necessity. 'Nuff said.

Back to BDA

After 17 years I finally made it back to my birthplace of Bermuda. Although I could not remember ANYTHING about it I was blown away by how beautiful it was, unfortunately, my camera could not due it justice and I ended up recording most of what I saw. I'm Back!

So I apologize for my absence, any of you new college freshman understand what I mean when I say the last few weeks have been hectic getting ready for school. Along with college preparations I went on two trips, one to Bermuda and another to Destin, Florida. In an effort to make up for lost time I will be posting a few posts tonight and hopefully two more this week, because I will be officially moving to Boston on Sunday where I will be starting school! I am overwhelming excited and cannot wait for the new memories I will be making with new friends and a new state! I hope all of you fellow freshman have an excellent year and good luck to all my fellow students in general whether you be in high school or college!
