Vintage Silk

Within the last few months it has been a rare occasion to catch me in any color other than black, white, and gray, but lately I have found myself gravitating more towards pastels like light pink, sky blue, and periwinkle. That being said I was thrilled when I spotted this 100% silk jacket from the 60s at The Garment District. Although it is definitely more of a spring piece, I tested it out this past week and love the way it feels and how it switches things up from my regular black leather jacket and tee routine.

Vintage jacket, Zara tee, Celebrity Pink jeans,
ASOS watch, Crown Vintage jeans

The t-shirt is from the ZARA basics line, the jeans are from Celebrity Pink, and the shoes are from Crown Vintage.

Polar Bear in Boston

As I mentioned in my recent "Currently Inspired by..." I love this season's trend of furry cardigans and jackets. I am not a fan of looking like apolar bear, however, so I went for shorter cardigan versus a longer one of even a coat. I found this cardigan on sale over the summer but was finally able to wear it once temperatures plummeted (thanks to the polar vortex).

H&M sweater, Truly Madly Deeply dress from Urban Outfitters, ASOS boyfriend watch,
Steve Madden tights, Crown Vintage boots

The rest of my outfit was simple and black as usual. I wore my black t-shirt dress from Urban Outfitters, fleece tights, and my Crown Vintage boots.

Currently Inspired by...

Recently I have been experimenting with natural hairstyles and although there is A LOT of trial and error I am very happy with how much healthier my hair feels. That being said I was thrilled to see a few natural hairstyles at the Academy Awards. Since Juno hit the Northeast and the blizzard has shut everything down I have been dreaming of spring and weather that doesn't force me to wear clunky boots. That being said I cannot wait until spring comes and I can incorporate more pastels (and white) into to my wardrobe as seen on Zendaya and Lupita Nyong'o.

The weather has clearly gotten to me and that being said I also love the look of a long coat over a simple dress or tailored skirt.

I have loved the look of furry cardigans and jackets on top of black outfits for awhile now, but I was finally able to find my furry H&M cardigan I bought during the summer which I will feature in a future blog post.

The Hadids. Bella and Gigi Hadid are both are stylish supermodels who I am in love with. 'Nuff said.

New Basics

As the school year continues I’ve realized how often I have been reaching for warm, basic outfits.  I bought this sweater during the summer knowing that I would desperately need them for school but it has actually become one of my favorite sweaters. The shirt however was a much more recent purchase but I already known I will be wearing it to death. If any of you all follow my Tumblr you’ll see that I absolutely love the look of collared shirts poking out from under sweaters, letterman jacks, and blazers. Originally I wanted a crisp white button down with a Peter Pan collar but after looking through multiple stores I was empty-handed. While in H&M last week however I spotted this button down in the men’s section. I loved the crispness of the collar and cuffs that most of the women’s button downs were lacking; I also loved how this button down was only $14.95 versus the $20 ones sold to women.

As for the bottom half of my outfit the jeans (although the material is much more legging-like) were a Christmas gift from my mother and the black leather ankle boots were a recent purchase.  I also added my boyfriend watch because I felt as though the monochromatic outfit could have used a touch shine.
