Blog Update

Hi guys! I am not sure how to start this so I'll just go for it and say thank you for getting me to 1,000 page views! It may not seem big to those of you who look at larger blogs, but it means SO much to me and I cannot even begin to thank you for everything you all have done! The blog has been such a fun stress reliever for me and it has even boosted my confidence in myself and my dreams!

I am also ecstatic to say that the day I found out about my 1,000 page views I also became a member of Emerson College Fashion Society's New Media team! I remember when I first started looking at Emerson and one of the selling point for me was the blog and how Emerson was one of the most fashionable schools in the country. That being said, this has been an AMAZING week for me and I owe so much of it to you all! Thank you so much and I hope you all have an awesome week!!!

Wedding Bells in Bermuda

If you follow me on Instagram, I’m sure you have seen that I recently went back to Bermuda for my father’s wedding. We stayed at the beautiful Fairmont Hotel and the wedding was on the premises as well. Unlike last time, my best friend was able to join me, so I hope you enjoy the photos!

My Dorm... FINALLY

Finally, my dorm was clean for more than eight hours and for that reason I can finally do a post about it! Despite us living in the same house for 11+ years I never really got to decorate my room for various reasons, such as my mother thinking I’m too messy and neither of use being able to agree on a paint color or theme. Finally, I got to college and new that I finally had the chance to decorate my room the way I wanted it to be. Of course, I couldn’t paint, put holes in, or bring in new furniture, but I am quite pleased with what I’ve done with it.

Originally, I did not have a planned color scheme, but I did notice that I was more drawn to black and white during the summer. Despite my love for the colors, I think that having a monotone color scheme wouldn’t be good for my mental being, so I thankfully found by bedspread at Urban Outfitters. I loved the mix of prints and colors and instantly fell in love with it. My pillowcases came from various places. My black silk one was from the beauty supply store, the striped one from my bedspread at home, and the monogrammed pillowcase was a present from my cheerleading team.

Next I searched IKEA for more storage containers because I new a regular dorm closet wouldn’t be able to hold all of my clothes. I found this rack within their ALGOT series (which is customizable). My lamp was also an IKEA purchase.

The mirror was from Tuesday Morning, and my tray was a last minute H&M purchase. The teacups came from a set at home.

My decorations were from Etsy; I must admit that I stalked both buyers for quite awhile. My tassels were from StudioMucci who were extremely accommodating to the fact that I needed them before a certain date (they are handmade so it does take a while to get them made and shipped out). The paintings were from ohgoshCindy and because of my timing they were on 20% which I was ecstatic about. This being said, I bought a majority of my stuff during holiday weekends this summer (patriotic holidays tend to have the better sales).

The laundry basket was a gift from my mother, and the black collapsible containers were also from IKEA.

Finally, I put up pictures of my loved ones with coordinating washi tape purchased from Office Depot. My chevron containers were also from Bed, Bath & Beyond.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me on any social network or in the comments below, I would LOVE to hear from you!

As always thank you for reading!

Boyfriend Jeans

I have always shied away from distressed jeans simply because they were never really my style, however, I recently found a pair that is not only distressed but they are also a boyfriend fit. For anyone who is really close to me they know that all of my jeans tend to have the same descriptions, skinny fit, dark wash, and no distressing whatsoever.  These always seemed practical because they could be dressed up or down and I would never have to worry about the details of my jeans clashing with anything else I was wearing.
Recently, however, I ventured to the Boston Open Air Market where they have a year round vintage market. This was first time in a vintage market and as exciting as the experience was I was ecstatic over the cool items I found at reasonable prices. One item in particular that I feel in love with was this pair of boyfriend fit distressed jeans. Before trying them on I thought they were perfectly distressed and one of the coolest pairs of jeans that I had ever seen, after trying them on I was slightly disappointed in how they weren’t especially fitted in the ankle, but after a lot of thought (and A LOT of persuasion from my friend Gillian) I decided to buy them and I am completely obsessed with them! Not only are they the comfiest pair of jeans I currently own, but they are also the edgiest piece I have in my closet (besides my black leather jacket).
I’ve really enjoyed thinking of different ways of wearing them, but so far I have kept things simple by wearing them with my gray leather jacket, Vans, and graphic white tee.

Currently Obsessing Over...

As you might have guessed from the title, I’ve decided to add a new feature to the blog where I will list what is currently inspiring me, so please enjoy!

Simple pieces in black and white.

I’ve realized how hard it can actually be to dress myself since I no longer have to wear uniform. As liberating as it may feel, it can also be slightly stressful to figure out what I want to wear each morning instead of just picking between which color polo I want to wear. Thankfully, my wardrobe is mostly black and white, which makes putting outfits together a lot easier. To keep things interesting I’ve resorted to going back through my Tumblr to see how innovative I can get with my simplistic wardrobe.

Beyoncé.

After being out for months, I finally had a chance to watch Beyoncé’s visual album titled BEYONC and I must admit that I am utterly obsessed with her, her views, her style, and her family (after her VMA performance who wouldn’t?). I admire how she fearlessly brought attention to issues in her songs, as well as being her unfiltered self.

Sammi Maria.

If you haven’t heard about Sammi Maria from The Beauty Crush,  PLEASE do yourself a favor and look up her up on YouTube, Tumblr, Instagram, etc. I’ll post the links below.

Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans

As silly as this may sound, I am truly obsessed with these! I finally have the freedom to do my own grocery shopping and with that I can buy the food that I want to enjoy. I still eat the food in the dining hall, but for those days I don’t want to eat there I’ve stocked up on normal groceries and these were at the top of my list. Although they may seem (and taste) indulgent, the antioxidants in the dark chocolate and beans are actually good for you. Just don’t overindulge!
